The Music is on!
Published by Erik Talboom,
I have always had a special relationship with music. I have a hard time doing anything from studying, reading, programming and even facilitating workshops without music. I started using music in workshop about 2 years ago. It’s a prettig cool way to influence people’s mood and a group’s energy level. But that is not what I wanted to talk to you about today.
I started playing guitar when I was about 15 years old. I have had moments where I play a lot and moments where I really don’t play that often. Some of you might already know that I am playing in a folk band called Lir and we have been doing quite a few gigs this year already. I really enjoy playing ball folk music that people can dance to. It’s beautiful to see a dance floor full op people dancing to your tunes :).
Next to the folk guitar, I also play the bass guitar, which to some extend might even be considered my "main instrument". Yet I am having real difficulties getting back on the saddle practicing on this one. I love the sound, I know what I can practice even which songs I would like to master. Yet for a reason that is still a mystery to me I don’t really make the choice of investing a decent amount of time in practising and just playing the bass. I even started a new band where I would be playing the bass and that kind of fell apart a few weeks ago when our guitar player had an accident seriously limiting his ability to play.
I am curieus to figure out what my counter intention is on this one, what is keeping me from taking the time to play and practise. I know I can do a lot if I put my mind to it and reserve the time for it. Yet I am not doing that right now. I am a weird guy sometimes ;-)
If I get some recordings semi decent, I’ll share them here so you can enjoy them as well.
